Sometimes they would just sit together in the evening, talking about their shared time in the Dark Castle. She likes those occasions because it always reminds her that this - whatever - in Storybrooke is not real and she is not insane to have memories of another life.

“I remember you catching me when I was falling off a ladder because I so wanted to tug down certain curtains,” she says and adds with a smile, “And then you nearly dropped me.”

He can’t hide a smile and nonchalantly replies, “I did no such thing.”

“Yeah…you keep telling yourself that.”

When Belle woke this morning, she was still slightly dazed from the night before.

“You’re working too much,” Belle said, leaning against the doorframe.

“Is that so?” Gold replied, not even looking up.

“Yes, come to bed. Preferably now.”

Gold laughed at that but stood up nonetheless, slowly making his way towards her.

Not long after that they laid entangled in the sheets, bodies intertwined as he showed her once more the love he couldn’t bring himself to acknowledge in another world.

Belle smiled and felt her eyes slide closed once more. Yes, she thought, a perfect way to start the day.
